The window to the world !

This window has in many ways acted as my window to the world- daybreaks and dusks, nights of full moon and stars and even meteor showers. The window has been my opening to emotions of extreme happiness and sorrow and of heartbreaks and elation. I always look out searching  for an omen - grey skies always spell gloom and rainbows are the signal of good times.  The window has been  a symbol of reaching for the horizon, of touching a dream...... I saw the sky line changing over the years - but the sky remains the same . God's own canvas of kaleidoscope. On days when I have the time I can just spend time sitting by the window listening to the cooing pigeons. See the eagles soar and listen to the street sounds below! In a week of rejection and dejection it came back with a lucky omen- the proverbial silver lining !

Flying free !

Independence day is a holiday for me now- Miss the APS days when 15th August was flag hoisting and then Investiture ceremony- the practice , the last minute check list! Once Ritadi noticed at the nick of time that the flag was folded upside down and Tribhuvanbhaiya had to quickly do the needful -unhoist and rehoist - else we would all be on the line of fire - the then Principal who was a dragon lady would have immediately turned us into "shaheed"s! Before that , at Future Foundation it meant celebrating Sri Aurobindo's birthday. The parade and the function always ended with the khichuri and dorbesh that tasted out of this world. Jayadi's touch somehow got lost in the sophisticated boxes that Chibu used to bring home later . Freedom song has different meanings now - especially for me - it means more free time to do what I want to do- getting up late, tea over the morning newspaper and getting sucked into the obsessive world of Game of Thrones! Travelling is on the ...

Rakhi Miss-Match !

Today being Rakhi - brings many a ribald jokes especially if you do not believe in sisterhood or brotherhood! In our group of young at heart but aging men the dress code is that of Sholay's Thakur ! Closer home there pre-Rakhi romance had it's own tinge of tragedy and comedy- and this I feel makes life worth living ! They both came around the same time as replacements for for two of my most trusted helpers at home. Joba is a young mother of a pesky 5 years old and Amit a bachelor devoted to his parents. In the intervening months Joba's husband who was in Gujarat became estranged and decided to remarry and even had the gall to invite Joba for the marriage! Just after this joba had an altercation with me and left my work. Amit kind of missed her and asked after her and seemed quite thrilled when she was reinstated again.Infact it so happened that every evening on my way back I was quizzed and had to answer whatever life story of Joba ! Thus began an effort in Match ...

Travelling Am-bessy !

Found this from the memory trove. The journey of my life. traversing across the country- east to north, in the ubiquitous Ambassador- Baba at the helm, doing what he loves best - driving against the wind , on highways, skirting through traffic , in pitch dark on roads infested by 'dacoits'.Taking us to watch the Taj Mahal on a Kojagori poornima night - all myths about the mausoleum coming true in that moment with the moon's silvery light casting a magical spell over the white marbles and the shimmering river. That was the night a life-time of memories were made!  And Lucknow - the land of nawabs and Kebabs and Residency, that still gives you a feel of the Mutiny even while posing top the canon! That trip introduced to my relatives at Kanpur and i had become great friends with Dimpi for a while. I wish we had kept in touch - phones and letters have their own way of making  creating distances ....I wish we had Facebook then ! And this one is in the heart of C...

Even if I am mad, does not mean I do not care !

Growing old together sounds so "cute" when you are young. I have been wanting to write about this for a long long time , yet even now have not found the right words to express... Living with my nonegerian parent in laws is probably a true example of understanding the meaning of dependence and a deeper bond that only time can temper! Long long time back I remember asking Bhaskar "What shall we do when we are old?" and he had replied " We will talk of these times..." To a 20 something it was the most rose tinted romantic reply, but now I realize what it is like to go back in the past. It is painful. The other afternoon my father-in -law refused to get up for his evening tea, insisting that he is playing cricket ! He lives in the past mostly, in his youth , and talks of the days when he cycled to his college for the classes and his children were small. My mother in law at times seems worried and at times amused and both ponder and worry who is going to l...

It's raining in my heart ....

The slow drive back home in the pouring rain and haywire traffic was probably the perfect time for introspection- especially cos' my smart phone's unsmart battery snoozed off and I had only FM for company! The week was good in many ways- 25th was a layered sundae- Chibu turned a year older and graduated with a decent percentage :)! Happiness for me ..and I don't want to get into the nitty gritty of what will happen tomorrow....cos whatever will be will be ! Let me enjoy these happy moments in space! Going back to the Art Of Living after 14 years was...umm raised a lot of quesions...I could not give up on the non-veg, so like our instructor said..the effects will be diluted ! I still am amazed at how Sri Sri pulls people around him, keeps them together and I felt ashamed how people out there are dedicated to projects that are difficult , dedicated to people who really are the "have-not"s !!! I really want to work for the tribal school.... And amid the calmn...

You give me fever !

With FIFA being the flavor of the month , there is very little to talk about these days -Everybody has a favorite team and a a player and they know all the moves and the grooves ,and if not then Regina the soothsayer is there- stepped in the place of Paul the Octopus :) Chibu declared he is not going to start working before 14th July...job can wait !!! Our household is the same..the nocturnal routine revolving around the FIFA , and Brazil is inconviniently placed on the latitude for my liking :( Though I too like the Football but have no option but to watch the  action replay! The week was bad with episodes of hospitalization, helpers leaving and work that's endlessly unending ...looking forward to a weekend with fingers crossed...Ahh how I long for the solitude with  a story book and a cup of coffee... And amid all the arguments about Messi and Neymar and Oscar and Ronaldo, it was Chobi who made a profound observation.." Kon deshe khela hochche go didi?"- "Kyan...
