The window to the world !

This window has in many ways acted as my window to the world- daybreaks and dusks, nights of full moon and stars and even meteor showers. The window has been my opening to emotions of extreme happiness and sorrow and of heartbreaks and elation. I always look out searching  for an omen - grey skies always spell gloom and rainbows are the signal of good times.  The window has been  a symbol of reaching for the horizon, of touching a dream...... I saw the sky line changing over the years - but the sky remains the same . God's own canvas of kaleidoscope. On days when I have the time I can just spend time sitting by the window listening to the cooing pigeons. See the eagles soar and listen to the street sounds below! In a week of rejection and dejection it came back with a lucky omen- the proverbial silver lining !

Flying free !

Independence day is a holiday for me now- Miss the APS days when 15th August was flag hoisting and then Investiture ceremony- the practice , the last minute check list! Once Ritadi noticed at the nick of time that the flag was folded upside down and Tribhuvanbhaiya had to quickly do the needful -unhoist and rehoist - else we would all be on the line of fire - the then Principal who was a dragon lady would have immediately turned us into "shaheed"s! Before that , at Future Foundation it meant celebrating Sri Aurobindo's birthday. The parade and the function always ended with the khichuri and dorbesh that tasted out of this world. Jayadi's touch somehow got lost in the sophisticated boxes that Chibu used to bring home later . Freedom song has different meanings now - especially for me - it means more free time to do what I want to do- getting up late, tea over the morning newspaper and getting sucked into the obsessive world of Game of Thrones! Travelling is on the

Rakhi Miss-Match !

Today being Rakhi - brings many a ribald jokes especially if you do not believe in sisterhood or brotherhood! In our group of young at heart but aging men the dress code is that of Sholay's Thakur ! Closer home there pre-Rakhi romance had it's own tinge of tragedy and comedy- and this I feel makes life worth living ! They both came around the same time as replacements for for two of my most trusted helpers at home. Joba is a young mother of a pesky 5 years old and Amit a bachelor devoted to his parents. In the intervening months Joba's husband who was in Gujarat became estranged and decided to remarry and even had the gall to invite Joba for the marriage! Just after this joba had an altercation with me and left my work. Amit kind of missed her and asked after her and seemed quite thrilled when she was reinstated again.Infact it so happened that every evening on my way back I was quizzed and had to answer whatever life story of Joba ! Thus began an effort in Match

Travelling Am-bessy !

Found this from the memory trove. The journey of my life. traversing across the country- east to north, in the ubiquitous Ambassador- Baba at the helm, doing what he loves best - driving against the wind , on highways, skirting through traffic , in pitch dark on roads infested by 'dacoits'.Taking us to watch the Taj Mahal on a Kojagori poornima night - all myths about the mausoleum coming true in that moment with the moon's silvery light casting a magical spell over the white marbles and the shimmering river. That was the night a life-time of memories were made!  And Lucknow - the land of nawabs and Kebabs and Residency, that still gives you a feel of the Mutiny even while posing top the canon! That trip introduced to my relatives at Kanpur and i had become great friends with Dimpi for a while. I wish we had kept in touch - phones and letters have their own way of making  creating distances ....I wish we had Facebook then ! And this one is in the heart of Cha
