Found this from the memory trove. The journey of my life. traversing across the country- east to north, in the ubiquitous Ambassador- Baba at the helm, doing what he loves best - driving against the wind , on highways, skirting through traffic , in pitch dark on roads infested by 'dacoits'.Taking us to watch the Taj Mahal on a Kojagori poornima night - all myths about the mausoleum coming true in that moment with the moon's silvery light casting a magical spell over the white marbles and the shimmering river. That was the night a life-time of memories were made! And Lucknow - the land of nawabs and Kebabs and Residency, that still gives you a feel of the Mutiny even while posing top the canon!
That trip introduced to my relatives at Kanpur and i had become great friends with Dimpi for a while. I wish we had kept in touch - phones and letters have their own way of making creating distances ....I wish we had Facebook then !
And this one is in the heart of Chambal....posing in the land of Phoolan Devi ! Baba never thought of danger...and neither did Giri uncle !! Handsome, flamboyant and fun he was a perfect companion in that trip -Met him at his daughter's marriage recently- he is aging but still looks good and feels thrilled when reminded of his resemblance to Kabir Bedi!
The road trip was a mix of adventure and education and I cannot really leave romance out , cos Bhaskar met me in Delhi and tried his best to woo Baba more than me- falling flat on his face! It seems funny now - how he drove down on his bike all dapper in a smart jacket and asked for permission to take me to Red Fort - and Baba refused :) !
This is a trip that will remain in my heart and someday maybe I will have tales for my grandkids......Amen !

and he refused? :D
