devi and devi(l)

My grandmother used to relate this story of Shumbho and Nishumbho, two demon brothers who had the power to defeat all men and Gods. I have forgotten most of the story but what I remember was that their power did not work against women, thus they succumbed to the Devi. Who ended their misdeeds  The story had many twists, turns and more characters whom I have lost with time. In the days of hashtagmetoohashtag and hashtagwetoohashtag , I wish it was as easy as that.  And the ev il succumbed just like that. As pitripokhkho merged into debipokhkho it's strange that I remembered this tale related by the lady who made the strongest impact on my life with her sense of right and wrong and a sharp tongue. Devi and Devi(l) both will co- exist, in reality and in metaphor. And in many ways there won't be lores if all was well. So let's choose our weapons and get ready to dance with the devi, and deal with the devils. As dear friend said.... To give devil it's dues. Sharod shubhechc...

Three important words

Caught in a traffic snarl for a change I was watching the procession instead of getting irritated. Life has been quite a whirl for the past year. We have welcomed arrivals, cried over departures, travelled a lot, worked a bit. Went with the flow as Bhaskar said. And answered random questionnaire on three most important words in your life.... Salary is credited ( my favorite) Go with flow( Bhaskar's currant favorite) I love you ( really?  😉 ) And yesterday..... No malignancy found ( gratitude to a greater being) To life Amen. Pappu pass ho Gaya 😊

rain

The face seemed familiar , but from another time Is it the rain or The film in my eye? The rain, umbrella, and the splattered roads Were still the same But we moved on. And there you were in the rain And I ? Hate getting wet anymore !!!

cant imagine

Can't imagine dancing without you..... But who? My shadow With a limp in the foot Or my memories With a fractured love line ! But can't imagine Dancing without you In my head I'll never leave one eight Even if the digits turn with the world :)

Roses

A year back it rained,  And the raindrops slid From the roses  To my eyes. It rained too last night. But today,  There were no roses in the bushes And no teardrops in my eyes !

change

I have moved on in life Changed my home, my style, my partner for life Have you changed too? Your style, your songs, your strife? The evenings are not the same And the ice cream flavors have changed. The old places are crumbling Like my memories of you are stumbling Over the stones of time What was ours, has been covered with dust and grime.

Tale of saii- sighhhhh :)

I wonder if all over sized people have this problem while buying clothes.  In Bangkok if I point to a dress that I like it's always "Your saii?Beeeeeeeeeg saii !!!! No have,no have! " Sigh....  My problem with language is phenomenal. And at home in a different state it's almost the same story!  " Will it fit me?" A surreptitious look later, "Doubt-a!" A woebegone look later, " Cheri, Cheri... Open sides and fit-a!" Ahh.. To monkeys and bananas and too many coconut pies. I waddle back to my city matching it's theme of the month- football ! PS : Before you think I am nuts, the monkey and bananas dress is not for me, though I wish I could fit in that dress- ahhhhhhh!  😉 😂
