This came up in my memory. Our dining table was just next to it and enjoying the roses and rain was part of my day in the house at Garia.
Now that house had something surreal, a resident spirit, who co- existed with us. There are many a stories. Our driver Amit, would often complain that he heard pulling of dining table chairs when he had to stay overnight. I never paid much attention to that. Till two mornings in a row I noticed the four chairs all pulled out, as if people had a meeting there. I thought it was Bhaskar who did it. On asking he denied. He usually never got up at night unless there was an emergency.
So on the third night after dinner I pushed all the chairs back, and said aloud
- ektao chair jodi e deek o deek dekhechi!!!! It's good manners to push the chairs back!
Lo ! Next morning all were in place!
Now a few days back that house had a break in. They cut up the grill/ door on the ground floor and got in. The pump was stolen, and they rummaged both my in laws almirah and all others, broke open almost all the locks and absconded through the main door, which was open for almost three days. Our good neighbours never bothered to inform!
Surprisingly our room was spared and so was my almirah! Not that I have anything valuable!
Bhaskar quipped bhoot to bhoot, chor o bujheche oita kaar!
And I got my story!
