It's usual...the days are all merging one into another..nothing special , nothing out of ordinary - just the kind that lulls into tranquility, mediocrity ,ennui....The Garia Mela is on...Chibu has outgrown that ! It used to be a daily trip when he was small...the rides, the shops that sold stuff "ja kichu neben char taka..." (now it's 10) and the street food ! The train is missing this time. There is a Dragon train, which I rode with Tuli! I shopped for all kinds of stuff which I will throw out after a few months..Bhaskar calls it retail therapy! I guess I should be thankful that there are no crisis to take care, the deadline is still far away ......and Chibu is pretending to study at times to save me from the heart attack! Some days are blissfully boring...but what more can I ask for ?.......
Like PLATH said ......
"Tea leaves thwart those who court catastrophe,
designing futures where nothing will occur:
cross the gypsy’s palm and yawning she
will still predict no perils left to conquer....."
THE giant wheel! :D
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about mela :P
AAh yes...that was good and the pirate ship...though I am phobic to both but thanks to Abhro daant /mukh khichiye rode both...But I miss kids growing up and me visiting the mela alone. This time I did have Abhro's cousin to give me company !

ReplyDeleteAh! You have brought in memories and nostalgia. Our son used to buy those maces(GODA),swords etc.How we almost travelled back to our childhood bringing them up,na? Don't remember our parents doing that. Think most of us were hands-on-mom and single parent too as husbands were/is under work pressures constantly.Maybe that's why we have more people writing about empty-nests n stuff these days.Support system like relatives etc are/were less too.Even if they are/were there,its/was 'braver almost in stylish mode' not to share those/these days.Excuse my babbling.....
ReplyDeleteLove your babbling Dalia..that's why I call you my sister in arms! Oh yes Goda aar bonduk aar trump cards! Being hands -on mums did have its high points. Though my mother used to take me to charoker mela...around poddopukur!
ReplyDeleteAnd is it uncool to share nostalgia? maybe...but I always find a kinship in sharing and comfort in the fact that there are sentimental fools like me!
