if I.......

If I come back again , I will be in the land of Kilimanjaro Under an Acacia tree I will rest. Or walk with the lions Tame an elephant and wear Red ! If I come back again, Will I try to find you? I may and I may not. For I love watching sunsets alone, See the colors change in the sky And patterns the clouds make. If I come back again I may be a matriarch In a herd Majestic and mammoth or just someone who watches the snows of Kilimanjaro!

Shalikh saga

Spot the bird. Gets a shoo for being single... But of late it is building a nest. Maybe....the wedding bells will toll! Soon.

White n pink

Of late I keep dreaming of a white bunglow with pink Bougainville arching its gate. The gate opened to a lawn with a fragnant frangipani tree in one corner and wild roses covering the wall. Strange that I should go back to that house even in my dreams. I have lived in houses with gardens, and never thought much about them. Looked out for snakes, and yes I encountered quite a few. My friends joke I am a magnet for ghosts and snake. And hated the pollen season as it meant allergy and anti histamine. So its strange that I should go back , like Manderlay minus the sinister. With age I took to plants and balcony gardening. I still struggle with flowers, but I love the green, the solo bird that visits. We now hold a conversation. Tell him about finding a partner! Maybe it has, because it brings twigs even bits of pieces of celotape, to show me that it is building a home. Life goes on.....My dreams go back in past.... Shows I am growing old... Finally!

Spirit!

It was a moonlit night and quiet. Just the sort when you imagine leaves rustling, someone walking top toe ... But there was no sound except an owl hooting from far away. The silence, after the city noise was unnatural. And she heard someone calling her name in a whisper! Startled she looked around. The door was closed, so who could be there? The candle flickered and a whiff of cold air entered the room. Was someone outside the window? Or is it shadow. She flashed the mobile torch in that direction! The owl hooted. Someone was banging the door! - Memsaaab! memsaab. Dinner lag gaya. A jaiye! She jumped up! The lights were on! Selected ghost stories was opened next to her and she had dozed off! Relief. She opened the door. - Aiye memsaab! Par aapke room me koi aya tha? Dekhite joote ki nishani. Indeed dusty shoe marks on the mat! But do ghosts wear shoes?

Candlelight and chill

Its a perfect night for a ghost story. Balmy wind, candle light and a chill down the spine. She got up and walked to the balcony. The chill made her pull her shawl closer. She looked down at the transformer room where electricians were working to fix the connections. She saw someone standing at the balcony next door. Surprise! The flat has been closed for months! Eversince she had moved in. Did someone move in? The lady had flowing, flyaway hair and seemed to be enjoying the solitude like her. -I must go sometimes and ask if she requires anything! Life in a city is strange, people dont know each other, people arent bothered, everyone has their agenda....so unlike the small town where she lived in a family of parents and grandparents and where people lived in each others lives more than their own. And dark evenings like these meant tea, fritters and her grandfather's ghost stories. She looked up to find the neighbour gone and the lights restored. The doorbell rang loudly. The c...

Sunsets

I love sunsets. That's because I rarely see sunrise. Most of the sunrises I see are when I am traveling. Setting sun always tells me of possibilities. Of new beginnings. And of a city being lit up by thousands of light. Of a sparkling life. Even if you are in the dark. Shubho nababarsha in advance.

Live!

It was balmy and the wind made rattling sounds on the French windows. In the semi darkness of the room it was eerie. And she thought of spirits. Of seeing unknown shapes through the peripheral vision. Is it imagination? Or was someone actually watching her? Strangely it almost never scares her. It's like peaceful co-existence. Live and let live! Live? But are they alive? Now a shiver passed through her spine!
