25th June!

- Can you imagine I will be thirty next year ? - Not me...I am stuck at 16 :) -Arre tumi to....... My conversation with Pooja as Chibu cuts the cake! Blows out the candles and grows a year older ! The phases in his life and ours are all so entwined. And the three of us wont fit in that boat anymore ! If there is any special day for me , it has to be the 25th June...It kind of changed me forever. To ice creams and strawberry cakes ...to nutella and naughtiness ...To graduation to wedding....The years just merged into one another. It's time to move on...with a smile and bit of a sigh! And Sheroo must have grown old and retired. And Simba is ready to explore the possibilities of life.... Cheers to that and a great year ahead! Fr

The recipe !

- Does life have a recipe? - Umm it does! A spoonful of happiness, a pinch of sadness and a cupful of expectations ! - It doesn't work that way ! - Depends on who is cooking ! Ah I wish life too had grandmother's recipe book. But like she said" Bhalobeshe rsndho...rannar haath khule jaabe!" The magic of cooking -the magic of life !

Being Stupid !

And the  world might be ending And I don't care I laugh because I am very, very stupid! Somehow this is the state of the state, and we somersault and can reach anywhere. Break a bone or just be lucky.... We take each day and still carry on... Because we are very very stupid!

Hairy Tales !

Salons are for pampering narcissism. And not my favorite place, mainly because people watching isn't very interesting. The lady behind me said, her boss commented, her hair is loud! Some cloud of spray and a few hours of foil wrap later, her specialist remarked " Ab to boss bhi khush hoga! " Eyerolls!  Now in walks this lady, all of two... Determined that she doesn't want to look like a boy. She is a bit intimidated, a bit curious and looked too cute with her mass of curly hair, which the grandmom declared is making her hot!  She was put on a plank to face the mirror... Fascinated she was preening at the back to back reflection. Then there was this drawer full of clips. Noticing me she offered me one. The scissors were scary, but she held on. The mother and grandmother, very much a part of the process as the little one settled in with the make over process. Girls will be girls... Just give them a mirror!  :P Suddenly remembered Chibu's first hair cut at the para ...

Humpty Dumpty :)

Modeling Humpty Dumpty comes easily to. Half the time I do not realize I have had a fall till it's too late!!! And I am sitting on this plastic chair, and drop my sealed little plastic container of Amul dahi... I bend sideways and before I realize I am on the floor, legs stretched out and everyone else in the room around me.... My first reaction is to laugh, I always do that before the pain sets ( metaphorical  ;)  ) Then I realize that I am on that container of Doi and the container is a 'jolchobi' on my umm rear with the doi like a world map on the rear of my dress! Thank God am wearing a multi colored dress, thank God it's only dahi, which could be cleaned up and semblence restored! My conversation with my driver later. Me: Jano Amit, aj Ami chair theke pore gechlam! Amit: Shekiiiii? Lageni to? Me: Na na... Kintu bhaggish chair ta bhangeni ! Amit( genuinely concerned) : Chair, tair charun to... Ki hoto ? Bhangle aaraisho taka diten. Bhari shorir! Haar bhangle ki ...

Fleeting!

Lights and water can be magical, especially at night. They conjure dreams and they tell you tales... And they weave magic! And ' things seen in candle light don't look so nice in day'......  They melt away in the morning, maybe never to return, never, to return!
Vacations should always have stories apart from memories. Having concluded our shopping at Jungseylon, we were rushing back to our hotel. Since language is a problem in most of Thailand we carried the hotel card. A bit of bargaining and card reading later we climbed up the tuktuk and told the driver triumphantly- " Hotel next to the tiger restaurant!" He smiles, nods and we are off. I am busy counting the leftover baht when  Swarnali  exclaims " oi to tiger" And I look up and  see the tiger restaurant. By then Swarnali was frantic. She banged the side of the tuktuk like the minibus conductors of our own city and yelled " Stop! Stop!" The confused driver stops, smiles we hand over 200 baht and get off only to realize this isn't the place. Frantically we climb up. By then it is a case of ghente ghaw! The driver takes our hotel slip goes to some security guy, who shakes his head. From the tuktuk we use all kinds of movements to make the driver start the ...
